Biography
Raquel Divina Amparo is an Emmy Award-winning journalist, Kneeland Fellow, and media executive with more than 20 years of experience leading newsrooms and developing talent in major markets across the country.
As Vice President of Content and Regional Director for Texas, Raquel oversees content strategy and newsroom growth across 11 Texas markets. She partners with local leadership teams to strengthen journalism, recruit and develop top talent, and foster collaboration across newsrooms. Her teams work together to deliver impactful coverage of the stories that matter most to Texans—from severe weather and major trials to public policy, accountability reporting, and the issues shaping communities across the state.
Prior to her current role, Raquel served as President and General Manager, Vice President of News, Managing Editor, Executive Producer, and Producer in markets including Dallas-Fort Worth, Washington, D.C., and Miami. Throughout her career, she has led coverage of historic events including record-breaking hurricanes, winter storms and tornadoes, the inauguration of the nation's first African American president, immigration issues at the southern border, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Raquel believes journalism is both calling and a public service. She is passionate about building strong newsroom cultures, mentoring future leaders, and helping journalists produce meaningful work that informs, empowers, and serves their communities.
Her leadership and commitment to developing the next generation of journalists have earned numerous recognitions, including the Emerging Latina Leader (ELLA) Award from Hispanic 100 in 2024 and Broadcaster of the Year from the Texas Association of Broadcast Educators in 2020.
Raquel serves on the boards of the Texas Association of Broadcasters and Speedway Children's Charities. Born in New York and raised in the Dominican Republic and South Florida, she brings a multicultural perspective to her work and is proud to help lead journalism that serves diverse audiences across Texas.
